So can I take a minute to talk about Lost In Translation? I have to confessed I was underwhelmed - unlike my son Kerry, who gave it a 9 out of 10 and pestered me for three days until I took him to buy a copy of the DVD. I admit, I enjoyed looking at the Japanese locations, and Scarlett Johanssen has an ethereal beauty that makes her fascinating even when she's doing nothing. But there's not much there there, if you ask me. And the Oscar for Best Screenplay is a total mystery, since the screenplay seems very slight. The DVD package quotes a review that calls it "flat out funny" or something like that. Is it just that I'm cursed with the wrong age and sensibility to appreciate this film?
