Yeah baby! Playbill News: Roundabout's Assassins Official for Broadway in March

On Slate.com, Paul Boutin wrote a review of Quicksilver called The World Outside the Web, in which he asserts that Neal Stephenson's new book upends geek chic.

Here's a review of Neal Stephenson's Quicksilver on Slashdot. Alex and I both bought copies on the 23rd, the day it was available in the store. We've both been anticipating the publication of this book for months. NS's Cryptonomicon was perhaps the most fun I've ever had reading a novel, and the prospect of a new book has had father and son both salivating. Only about 200 pages into it so far - alas, I wish I could cancel all other activities and hunker down for a couple weeks with this hefty tome, but you know how it is. So far, the book has plenty to recommend it. Details at 11...

Hoo boy, here's some good news! 'Assassins' Ready Again for a March opening at the Roundabout Theater, sez the NYT. When I get the time, I'll post my thoughts about 'Assassins' and 'Bowling for Columbine.'

Brief History on Commedia dell'arte is worth reviewing as supporting material for Musical Theater History, and the author's company might be interested in producing Goosefeathers.

A Subversive Servant and the Debt Comedy Owes Him is a review of Bill Irwin's new show about the commedia character Harlequin, or as we sometimes know him, Arlecchino.

Playbill News: Innaurato's Gemini Sings as a Musical in NYC Readings Feb. 10 tells a little bit more about the Kevin Carter version of Gemini. But will there be a new version?

A provocative article in Backstage.com by Erik Haagensen considers whether contemporary audiences have outgrown the "speech escalating into song" convention. And check out the last paragraph for a provocative mention of Gemini the Musical by Albert Innaurato and Kevin Carter. Hmmm.

www.delawareonline.com : The News Journal : LIFE : The sound of classic family fare quotes yours truly - the News Journal's instapundit for all things musical theater. I like to think I might have said it a little more feliciously than that. Still, it's always a pleasant surprise to find that someone thinks my opinion matters.
